And warm woolen mittens...

After a really rough start to the fall season, October is turning out to be quite pleasantly warm. However, the weather can turn on you in a second, and so I'm making sure my scarves and armwarmers are prepped and ready to head out the door. I wish this rope scarf from LuLu & Loie, the makers of the chunkiest scarves ever, was by my door. It's totally epic. But it does come from Brooklyn, so that goes without saying, really.

I also just saw this new CareWear necklace (handmade by my sister) whilst at (Canadian) Thanksgiving dinner. It's pretty sweet. She's stocked her shop up with a few new goodies, including this convertible hat/cowl. Though I don't want to distract you from lovely knitted goods, I'd like to also direct your attention to that white and black painting in the background. It's by me. That's my old bedroom. I wish I could cut that section of the wall out and hang it in my apartment. Because, though it's not from Brooklyn, it is pretty epic.

Top 19 Finds of the Winter

Usually the first day of Spring would be a day of relief, as our winters are generally two months too long, and rather taxing on the human brain. This past winter, however, has been unbelievably kind to us, especially as it's already been on it's way out for a few weeks. Nonetheless, I will not complain that Spring is officially here today. And though most of you have been with me the past season, here are my Top 19ish Finds of Winter 09/10 (I had a lot of ties for most of the categories). Kovin Double Take

This photo frighteningly reminds me of my sister when she was younger. I'm sure I could find a picture of her that looks exactly like this if I tried. This is from Lauren Kovin's F/W 10 collection, which she just posted today on her NJAL page. I absolutely loved Lauren's gorgeously fluid S/S 09 collection, but this melancholy, hide-me-away look is what I'm feeling today.

All In the Family

This post is all about some shameless self/family promotion. First off, the lovely Necole of The Creative Mixx interviewed me a little while ago (my very first try at being the interviewee!), and she was kind enough to post it last night. So click here to read a couple of thoughts from me, if you're not tired of that whole schtick already.

Secondly, my big sister just recently opened up her very own Etsy shop, which is full of knitted and baked goods (of the stretched-lobe wearing kind), handmade by herself and a 'guest designer', our Mother dearest. Even the buttons are handmade! I'm a proud owner of a couple of my own CareWear pieces thanks to the gift giving birthday and Christmas seasons, so I know this stuff is good. Check it out! She takes custom orders in a lot of different colours, and is also offering free shipping until February 14th. Just don't tell her who sent you - it'll be our little secret.

Edit: Here's a sneak peak at some new jewelry my sister has been working on. Makes me wish I had pierced ears.
