Limi Feu, A/W 12/13

Ah, it might be the shiny new inhaler I just brought home, but Limi Feu's A/W 12/13 collection seems like a breath of fresh air. Yes, I know there's nothing new here and, in fact, the collection seems like a hodgepodge of her previous offerings with a generous helping of Yamamoto on the side. But it's ('it' being the oversized coats, perfect layering, deconstructed menswear, dependence on black, and lovely Parisian twist) what I like, so who cares? Far more interesting than the disappointing bird-theme Mr. Pugh gave us today at any rate, or the cowhide-heavy collection of Mr. Doma. Sigh.

Have any of you seen 84 Charing Cross Road? Sometimes I wish books were still hard to find, and that you had to develop relationships with people on a different continent just to read what you wanted to read. Ordering books online is so unromantic.

Can I

I have something to discuss with you. I know I've (quite recently) complained about other blogs and websites changing. And I know I've shared with you my wish to stay in the Dark Ages and not keep up with technology and whatnot. But Blogger has just got some pretty sweet new templates that I'm tempted to use. kOs would look quite different, but an update would hone the modern and clean look that I was originally going for and look more grown-up in general. I'm not sure how it would change all the fun stuff I have in the sidebar, or if I'll have any freedom to change the background colour and whatnot, so there might be a bit of a transition phase. So, what do you think? I'm hoping you'll like it. Here's a pretty S/S 12 Limi Feu sweater dress as a peace offering just in case. Be sure to check out the rest of the collection in case you're into executive jesters and Gwen Stefani.

Because it's Fall, after all

Is anyone else feeling underwhelmed by this year's crop at NYFW? I shouldn't be surprised, seeing as I tend to favor F/W collections over S/S collections any day. And it's not like I haven't seen anything I like, seeing as there's new Hexa by Kuho and some Academy of Art grads, not to mention this delightful designer named Kimberly Ovitz that I keep meaning to post about, but I just can't seem to commit to any photos to post (browse nymag.com for all the collections). Might've been Rodarte's use of a 'Starry Night' print that made me just want to forget I saw anything new at all. Sigh.

So how about we revisit some good ol' (i.e. previously posted) F/W stuff. Particularly Limi Feu F/W 2011 stuff. Brilliant warm, cozy, and layerable stuff. Tonight there's a frost warning, after all. Hopefully the crisp air will get my writing juices flowing again. I swear, I've started about five posts in the last few days and have left them just sitting as drafts. These days, I'd prefer editing posts than writing new ones. Does someone need something edited? Otherwise, I might just have to resort to creating an entire collection of (my man's) nose molds from San Pellegrino Limonata foil caps. It's kind of like Miss Feu's molded hats...

By the way, if you happen to be an owner of an ArtLab Bustle of Lysistrata, the above is a styling suggestion. One that I might have to try out...

Limi Feu, F/W 11

I can't say I loved Limi Feu's entire F/W 11 collection, but there are definitely enough great pieces in it to make me look through all of the photos a few times. I also can't get enough of that double breasted partial long grey coat. Reminds me of that fantastic sleeveless Konrad Parol piece. Today, however, I want to be wearing either one of those dresses with the underbust cut-outs, or the below outfit with its perfectly pleated skirt.

Mmm, I want some Oreos...

1-2-3-4

1) Fog. I love the sound of fog. My 2 AM walk home last night/this morning was the closest I've come to hearing complete silence in the last 1+ year of constant ear ringing. And the sky looked like this shredded tee by Urban Revisions. Sigh. I could've walked home for hours.

2) Ravishing Mad. RM's Anna is a genius (and quite brave). Her newest project is called 'Paraphrase', which is a series of ten different Ravishing Mad interpretations of well-known photographs. Each of these photos are also accompanied by a new breed of fashion video, which follows the photo shoot and features some lovely Ravishing Mad designs, even if worn ever so briefly. The first one is a paraphrase of Annie Leibovitz' photo of John Lennon and Yoko Ono that was on the cover of Rolling Stone in 1980, starring Anna and her husband, Truls Bråhammar. It's a bit nekkid for my blog to post in its entirety, but do go see both the full poster and the video here.

3) Limi Feu. She just showed her A/W 10/11 collection in Paris today. I'm not nearly as keen on it as I was her previous collection, but I'm just happy she's still around.

4) Damir Doma. Today was his greatly anticipated A/W 10/11 WMNS Show. I'm incredibly excited, as you know I'd gladly wear much of Damir's menswear. Google has provided me with these brief glimpses, via Twitpic. Enjoy.

-- Yamamoto, Spring 2010

You may already know this since I'm a bit of a latecomer, but what you are seeing here is not Yohji Yamamoto's newest collection. It's Limi Yamamoto's, a.k.a. Limi Feu's. Yes, Yohji has a daughter and, thankfully, she has not fallen far from the proverbial Yamamoto apple tree. I think I just found a new favorite, thanks to some browsing of the magazine stacks at my local bookstore this lovely evening. The above photos are of Limi's Spring 2010 collection, and the ones below are from her Fall 2009 collection, which is also channeling some Vivienne piracy with those buckles. Simply amazing. I can't even pick a favorite look/outfit/piece. I suddenly feel like I don't own enough black clothing.
