Tanne Vinter

Thanks to mydearthing (and American Apparel, to a much smaller extent), I've really been digging low armholes on tank tops and sleeveless dresses (the more extreme of which, as informed by OutsaPop, were known in the Middle Ages as 'hell's windows'). So the first moment I saw the above piece, introducing me to the work of Danish designer Tanne Vinter, I was hooked. Even moreso when I saw that Tanne was a finalist at Designers' Nest at this past Copenhagen Fashion Week (the website of which is like a candy shop to me), and about 100X more than that when I saw that she interned for Barbara Í Gongini as a design assistant in developing the bÍg S/S 11 collection. Might I add that this talented lady is only 23 and just graduated last year with a BA in fashion? As for her own work, Tanne brings that dropped/open side seam detail from the above dress into the rest of the collection, as well as a lovely juxtaposition of different textures of black, making me want to add every single piece to my wardrobe. In short, Tanne is my newest favorite designer and a definite one to watch.

After seeing various shots of this coat, I think it needs to go in My Top 3 Want List. So it shall. Is it unhealthy that all of My Top 3 are black coats/jackets?

Ivan Grundahl

When I was in junior high, I had the requisite embarrassingly bad skin. I remember on a particular weekend youth trip, in which we stayed at a prison for one night of all things, I thought my skin would look better if I were wearing a facial mask than going bare faced. And so, as soon as I had picked my bunk and put on my pj's, I slathered on some mud and went socializing until bedtime with all the other 'cellmates'. It did the trick - I felt oddly comfortable hiding behind a product that screamed I had skin in need of a product. If only I had known the immense power of the NYC subway station facial, I would've run away from junior high and my dry northern abode long ago.

Anyway, Danish designer Ivan Grundahl's S/S 11 runway look would've been my best friend back then, though I'm much more ready for the clothing now (though I think I'd pair them with some red plaid Dr. Martens...). I could've sworn that I had already posted something from Ivan, but searching my blog tells me otherwise, and the Googles knows all. Perhaps it's this look below that just jogged my memory, as it bears quite a resemblance to a couple of the Junya Watanabe looks from my favorite collection of last season.

And speaking of jogging my memory, can someone please please please put me out of my misery and tell me who this coat is by (photo via Fashion156)? I had my fingers all over this 15-pounder sleeve when I saw it at the IF Boutique, and I know that it was hanging on the left near the front of the store with the Comme des Garçons and Junya Watanabe pieces, but I can't find any evidence on the Internets as to who it belongs to. If you find out for me, I'll reward you with an interview with the newest (and best coiffed) addition to the world of New York fashion...

IF also carries Ivan Grundahl by the way. Hmm...

Danish pastries

In trying to find more info on the Danish designer behind this fantastic wintry look, namely Tine Winther Rysgaard (photo via Fashion156), I stumbled upon some wondrous dresses. I have no idea who the students are that are responsible for these looks, except that he/she/they are also BA students like Tine, but at the Designskolen Kolding (Tine studies at the Danmarks Designskole). Graduates from both design schools had the opportunity to show their graduate collections at last week's Copenhagen Fashion Week. I find this dress below combines the two pieces I'm debating on and developing outfits around for Fashion's Night Out: The Show, as I'm either wanting to wear my ArtLab Charlie Chaplin Couture Bib over something, or my mono Scarf Dress...or both.

I also quite love the shape of this dress. However, if I were to wear this dress out, I'd hope someone would let me know that I spilt my water all down it's front.

And this is just lovely. Like the ArtLab Andromache, but in eveningwear/beachwear form. Hey Patricia, that's not such a bad idea actually...
