Beginning of the End

Today marks the long-awaited (by me anyway) opening of End, an online shop based in Finland, which carries small Finnish labels and indie Finnish designers, including a small selection from MMM by Maria Matintytär Maattola (above pieces). Every piece is available in an extremely limited number, and will ship everywhere - so please don't buy all of the brown pocket pants before I can!

Carrots are good for you

And speaking of Finnish clothing (although I'm certain this is of the highest quality), I'm rather excited that some of Maria Matintytär Maattola's work will be available online very very soon, including those wondrous 'carrot' pants of Jaana's (similar brown ones pictured above). While I'm waiting though, I'll be oogling these gorgeous high-waisted, drapey pocket, carrot-ish plaid pants and jeans by Swedish Anna Österlund's Ravishing Mad label. I'm pretty sure these are the most perfect jeans ever, as they combine the curved waistband of my dream pair of Diesel jeans, the skinny legs of my Buffalo jeans, the drapey pockets of Georgy Baratashvili's pants, and Maria's carrot-shaped pocket pants. I'd buy those jeans in a second if they were available, and perhaps in a different wash. I wouldn't be tucking my shirt into the jeans though - my high-waisted pants are for coverage and comfort, not...high-waistedness.

P.S. Check out more of Ravishing Mad here.

Pant obsession

I'm really becoming obsessed with this general style of pant (draped/voluminous hips/pockets, skinny legs) since seeing those gorgeous Georgy Baratashvili men's draped pants (left). And then Queen Michelle posted these Kaylee Tankus women's pants (middle). And then of course there's Jaana's photo of her in her favorite pants, her Maria Matintytär Maattola 'carrot-shaped' pants (right; ah, the Finnish...). So now I'm seriously contemplating taking that one pair of super skinny scenester pants I bought and wore twice, and adding a draped layer to them. and perhaps an inside button-up faux layer like my lovely Vivienne Westwood pants, since these skinnies are way too low rise for my 26-year-old body. Just not sure my skills are up to the task. Sigh.

In other news, I'm seeing this man tomorrow. I'm rather excited.

P.S. He takes amazing photos! This one is via here.
