Faded to Black

This is how I want to dress everyday now. More streamlined in shape, but still obsessed with layering for texture. And of course with the black and grey colour palette. Perhaps I speak too soon as it's the beginning of the round of fashion weeks for womenswear, but this is by far my favorite F/W 11 collection. And the designer? Txell Miras. She has very solidly established herself on my Top Favorite Designers list.

Lifeguard on Duty

So yes, I know all the fashion editors and reviewers and bloggers are shouting from the roof tops about the return of colour, colour, colour. But, as I've said before, frankly I don't give a damn. And neither does Txell Miras, who is more than justified to not give a damn about anything she doesn't want to. Doing her own thing has worked out for her this long, so I'm quite happy she's continued on in this vein for her S/S 11 collection. I'm not even going to pick my favorite looks. And I shouldn't have to. In this month's meeting minutes at work, we were told to read our Occupational Health and Safety bulletin, which was about saving a drowning child. Therefore, I think these are all exactly the types of outfit I should be wearing to work...in the event that my workplace installs a swimming pool...and children are allowed at work...

Top 19 Finds of the Winter

Usually the first day of Spring would be a day of relief, as our winters are generally two months too long, and rather taxing on the human brain. This past winter, however, has been unbelievably kind to us, especially as it's already been on it's way out for a few weeks. Nonetheless, I will not complain that Spring is officially here today. And though most of you have been with me the past season, here are my Top 19ish Finds of Winter 09/10 (I had a lot of ties for most of the categories). Fancy Bats

This is perhaps the best image that could've greeted me after a long day at work, followed by a long walk through the dark wintry streets, which was in turn followed by a long jazz show/jam session. Guess my previous post on Txell Miras has got me on the press mailing list, so here's a merry slap on my back for my Google-able blogging. This is from the flyer for yet another amazing collection from Txell, her F/W 10/11 'Fancy Bats' collection, which will be showing at London Fashion Week. I now love bats even more than I did before. And that was quite a lot of love. Tonight, I especially feel like the 'bat' on the right. Too bad us mere shopping mortals have to wait many moons to get these nocturnal pieces...

Txell Miras

(Warning, this is a picture heavy post...) Okay, so this post was originally on the wearability/functionality of Barcelonian Txell Miras' A/W 09/10 'Framing' collection (above), as I do strive to mainly post clothing that I would actually wear. I had typed something about the usefulness of the more conceptual pieces at an event held in an architecturally interesting/awkward place with some pointy-shaped standing space. Or at a Tetris-themed party. And then I was comparing it to Txell's toned down S/S 10 collection, which has frames only in print (see below).

But then I got completely blindsided by her previous collections. Going backwards, I gasped out loud at Txell's S/S 08 collection (below).

And then at her A/W 07/08 collection (below).

And then at her A/W 06/07 collection (below).

And then at her S/S 05 collection (below)...

In short, this woman has about ten years experience in fashion design, so there was a lot of gasping going on in the last hour here. I'm simply amazed both at the fact that I haven't heard of her before, and at the fact her collection from 2005 seems so current and exactly what I would wear right now. Truly, a wardrobe spanning all of Txell Miras' collections would contain every fashion desire I could have: layering, frills, volume, structure, military-inspired designs, texture, avant garde-ness, blacks, browns, greys, whites, olives, skirts, dresses, pants, leggings, jackets... My brain is honestly quite overloaded at the moment.

Oh, and I also love this family tree as a jacket, from Txell's 2001/2002 pre-collection works. Reminds me of Bonzie's signature vintage look.

P.S. Thanks to all of my new and not-so-new followers! It made me smile to see so many friendly faces in my sidebar today.
