The #1 item on my Winter 11/12 want list? This wool/polyamide/cashmere vest by Thomas Tait which makes me rather speechless. And the #2 item? This hoodie by Boris Bidjan Saberi, which may in fact be the best hoodie I've seen yet. Both available at Reborn (with free shipping this weekend).

50% Viscose, 45% Polyester, 5% Spandex
This morning I received an email informing me that Reborn has bumped down some of their sale items to 70% off. Of course I want the most expensive pieces, making this number irrelevant. However, I came upon a Rad Hourani piece that I absolutely love (even though it's only 50% off) and can't believe is still in stock. Only two of these were ever made, exclusively for Reborn at that, and it looks like both are still available. I think Jackie O would be wearing something like this if she lived forever and became the editor of a fashion magazine. Or at least I would, if I could actually land a job like that in my very northern hometown.
Speaking of jobs, if you're fashion-minded, have some skills, and are looking for a new career, you may be interested to know that International Playground (in Manhattan) is hiring a full-time office manager (click here for details). I would definitely be applying for this one if I lived in New York. Also, SHIN is looking (or at least was a few weeks ago) for some part-time pattern makers (click here for details) to work in their Brooklyn studio. Wouldn't you like to help make my newest favorite piece? Or yours, I spose.

soldes d'été
Though I can't/shouldn't take advantage of this info, I thought I'd pass it on to you. Reborn's summer sale just started today, where select items are 25% off if you buy one, 30% off if you buy two, and 40% off if you buy three sale items. There's a few items I'd love, but this complexgeometries Afghan Sweater would be my main priority. There are so many layering possibilities with this piece, and it would be perfect in any season with the loose cotton knit. And it reminds me of the robes all the Maiden guys got once they left the stage (sitting in the nosebleeds and having a bird's eye view of backstage does have its advantages...). Sigh.
Whilst browsing for the 'select items', I also came upon a designer that at first I didn't think I had ever heard of, but now something in the back of my mind is tingling a little with recognition. Irish-born and Paris-based designer (and Central Saint Martins grad) Sharon Wauchob (who is the new creative director of Edun) has some excellent draped pieces for sale at Reborn (see above), but I'm looking forward to see if they'll stock any of her gorgeous sliced jewel-tone dresses from her F/W 10/11 collection.

Oh! And remember Aussie designer Gary Bigeni? Well, you may want to take a second look at his online shop if you're interested in saving some AUD...(thanks Debbie!)

What have you got against baboons in mime?
Okay, this was originally just an excuse to post some more Mandula, because I wish Hajnalka's gorgeous creations could always be at the top of all my browser windows. Or perhaps I should just put them on my desktop, as it seems I need to take up a permanent position in the middle of the road to ensure that my favorite neighbourhood creature does not get run over, and everyone's wireless networks seem to be password protected these days. But (I digress) I think that this perfect Bless cardigan (at Reborn)
and this fantastic Peeko Apparel bat capelet
could both hold their own (post) if need be. Though it could be those weird foot acupuncture points speaking, as I was informed they would 'help' my emotions. And we all know I get emotional over clothes. Sigh.

The (almost) perfect denim jacket
Wow, if it weren't for the leather content (and, well, the price tag), this DRKSHDW By Rick Owens piece could definitely convince me to wear a denim jacket again. In fact, I dare you to find prove that a more perfect denim jacket exists (or, rather, I'm asking you to find me a sans leather version). And no, Balmain doesn't count.
This beauty is available at Reborn, along with other SS 10 goodies I'm sure to post at some point.

Some more Rad-ness

I was just informed by Haute Macabre that Rad Hourani, designer of that gorgeous transforming jacket I posted about below, is Canadian. And so perhaps I should not assume that others know more about him than I do, and instead showcase some more of his amazing work. At the top is perhaps my favorite, being a rigid dress to drapey vest piece, with a gorgeous back cut-out. And below is a blazer using that same rigid-to-drapey style from the jacket of the previous post (also available as a sleeveless tunic).
Oh, and remember those Layered Trousers I was drooling over eons ago? Well here is a slightly more androgynous version, which I would love to don.
I need to save up my pennies for next time I make it to Montreal, as all these pieces are available at Reborn. Although I may not be able to afford the apple and brie crepes with maple syrup every day I'm there then.

Rad Rad
Thanks to Gareth and Sumie, and my reacquaintance with the wonder that is Alexandra Groover, my quest for the perfect jacket has now re-surfaced. And so this Rad Hourani jacket is looking pretty good to me right now...Do any of the above mentioned designers want my mailing address? Anyone?
