As promised, Dress Up Time.

My man is at work and I have the day off, so I thought I'd finally post some photos starring my wonderful new ArtLab pieces, plus some old(er) favorites. Changing my outfit more than once causes me to work up a frightful sweat, so you'll have to be content with my dress form standing in as the model. You can see my shadow in a few of the pictures though, so don't complain (please). You'll probably get the gist of it from the picture descriptions, but all but 2 of the pieces are handmade pieces bought directly from the designer, with all but 2 of the handmade pieces purchased on Etsy.

All the rest will feature the versatile ArtLab Military Skirt No. 1, as well as a basic white American Apparel ribbed tank. As pictured on the dress form, the outfits look mostly spring/summery. However, I would be wearing these over leggings, pants, jeans, or other skirts, and with armwarmers, mittens, and more/non-white underlayers (ie. tank tops, t-shirts, and long-sleeve shirts, especially my trusty treehouse 28 basics). My dress form only has one leg and no arms, so you'll have to use your imagination to fill these details in.

These are full outfits (minus the leggings/pants/mittens) that I would wear. The black top underneath is the complexgeometries two face dress, and the hoody is The Hoody (a.k.a. the Alexandra Groover 5-hooded hoody). The first two photos feature the ArtLab Clinical White Harness No. 1 over top the cg dress, with the Las Lopez Wood Nymph Point Lace Shawl/Scarf in the second photo. The last photo has the ArtLab Bustle of Lysistata instead of the Clinical White Harness No. 1.

And here are the two looks you would see me most often in, as I tend to be a creature of habit when it comes to throwing on an outfit quick. The first look (and probably the worst picture I snapped all morning) is the ArtLab Andromache's Deconstruction Noir, with The Hoody. The second look (and probably the best picture I snapped all morning) is the complexgeometries two face dress, ArtLab Clinical White Harness No. 1, Las Lopez Cobwebs Shawl/scarf, and my Yokoo East Hampton tote in pumpkin spice and charcoal grey.

Now I have to put all those clothes back in my closet/on their pile. Sigh.

It is frightfully cold here, so it's time to start layering much more than summer has allowed me to. If I owned all these pieces, here is what I'd be wearing today. I'm unsure about the shoes though. Besides my heavy duty snow stomping Adidas by Stella McCartney winter boots, I do not own any boots. Some type of vegan boot would definitely be in order here.

I dream in shades of grey

Too much spending this birthday weekend/mini holiday. So this is only a dream, but a very good (and shady) dream...

Perhaps I could splurge on marissa v.'s Centro Culottes though. I haven't had a desire to wear culottes since 7th grade. I think the time is now. That asymmetrical hem is impeccable.

To add something to the blogging world and to restore my grammar skills

I always wanted to be a writer and loved writing papers in my 6 years of university. Now I've been out of school for a couple years and I sound like I'm in dire need of an English grammar course. So please, if anything, please correct my grammar as I ramble on about my daily musings/favorites/dislikes.

So, first up, today's favorites:

1) Primordial

Amazing Irish metal band that I saw last night. Sadly, I only caught the last couple songs of their set, their first appearance in Canada. I've loved all things Irish since I can remember, so I was immediately intrigued, even though the singer looked pretty creepy with the black makeup melting off his shaved head. But seriously good stuff. I'm kind of bummed that I didn't pick up the sweet ancient Roman art looking t-shirt I saw at the show, especially since it's not on their website. If anyone sees them, I'd be most delighted if you'd get one for me!

2) Sigur Rós' "Von" on vinyl

I ordered this probably 5 months ago, and it finally showed up yesterday from the UK. Beat up, but amazing sound. This is the first album I heard from them, and I remember it freaking me out. But now I love it, and am so happy they finally released it on vinyl (limited edition, 200g at that). I often think that I'd be fine if I only had Sigur Rós to listen to for the rest of my life.

3) Scarves

It's horribly cold out today, and although I'm inside without a scarf on, I have many favorites to turn to in case I was crazy enough to go outside. My current likes are Bonzie's Le Coquette scarf, Bobelly's Cozyshrug, and Las Lopez's Point lace shawl. Whoever invented scarves deserves a medal of some sort.

Today's dislikes:

1) Sore throats (specifically mine).

2) Snow and below 0 temperatures in the middle of May (I hate Edmonton).

3) Sunburnt burns.

And finally, does anyone remember how to play 7-Up? All I remember is putting my head down and my thumb up...
