Modern Epidemic

Why is boring and (often ill-)fitted considered business attire, and not interesting and drapey? Especially when it's Christmas time and the office is full of chocolates and cookies? And the lunchtime walk route is through a sea of identically dressed people? If I was the decider of the decisions, butterflysoulfire would dictate what 'business attire' means. Also, Christmas lights would replace every ugly light fixture, and everyone would get to listen to Henry Rollins (and Jamie Woon) at work.

Speaking of Christmas, to all of those who have found your way here because you're interested in ugly Christmas sweaters, welcome.

Butterflysoulfire, A/W 10

This German label never disappoints. Love the clean look of the double-layered coats alongside the gorgeously draped tops, all in a barrage of black wool, modal, and jersey. If you just can't be bothered to go to Paris next weekend like me, you can view their virtual showroom in the here and now.

The Envelope (Pullover), please

Finally! I slept through the night (minus turning off the man's alarm clock), and I woke up just before noon. And it was glorious. Too bad I have to go back to work in about 3 hours. All I'd like to do really is curl up with a good cup of chai, or hot chocolate, or both, and my new library acquisition (the beginning of the Hellblazer comic book/graphic novel series). But I'd like to be wearing this. Not really sure if it's intended to be menswear or womenswear, but it looks ever so cozy. And I just love anything by butterflysoulfire. And it's now available (albeit in a slightly different form) on Doshaburi here.

Escape coat

I was trying to decide whether I liked the newest butterflysoulfire cape/coat in the Doshaburi store. But there's no question whether I love this exquisite Attila Design cape/coat. Yum! I may have to expand my Top 3 Want list to hold 4 items...

I'm my own worst enemy

I'm a bit perplexed at the moment as to why I have not jumped on the jodphur bandwagon yet after I saw a pair I liked. It's been true summer weather the past few days and I have exhausted my limited pre-laundry day supply of light summer dresses/skirts (why are all my clothes layered and so damn heavy???). And I do not wear shorts. Curses. I think I have simply become too impatient with shopping that involves more than a couple of clicks, courtesy of my Etsy addiction. Scouring the web for the most detailed pics available, and then emailing to reach the correct live person, and then emailing some more for product and sizing info, and then waiting for a reply and then an invoice...I work against myself sometimes. So now I have no lovely jodhpurs coming my way (and no Layered Trousers, which I gave up on to get said jodhpurs, and then again when the exchange became worse). And I'm cranky.

My clicking finger is also getting itchy. This resolve to spend no more money is a tad harsh. I don't even want to shell out $10.99 for a UK Vogue, which would provide me with hours of entertainment. I do however want to shell out the sale price of 65 Euros for the only piece of clothing I've found available for a few clicks from butterflysoulfire, being the unisex knit cardigan above. I heart them. But then again, that wouldn't solve my no-hot-weather-clothing problem, would it? Sigh.

I heart NJAL

Prompted by the cold weather and, yes, my daily ogling of the Layered Trousers, I espied in The Shop this interesting unisex jumper (which "gives a look of being touched from many directions") and wanted to see more of this designer, butterflysoulfire. And I'm in love. That stuffed collar on the square felt coat is oh so dramatic and yet, I think, functional. Then there's my daily dose of lovely flowy jersey. And I love that many of the pieces in the A/W 08/09 collection are unisex. I think I need those checkered pants. They will bring me back to my ska days...

And then imagine my delight when I discovered more collections posted on btfsf's own website! Simply amazing monochrome pieces in their A/W 09 collection, called 'Telescope and Envelope' (of which the white gloves jumper is a part of). I think a trip to Germany is in order.
