In This Corner...Jinxed Armory

I just did a shoot with model Sharon TK & photographer Kencredible recently when I visited Philadelphia.  These pieces are brand new additions to my Jinxed collection.  We shot up at the old armory in Philadelphia that was built for the War of 1812.  There are over 50 historic buildings inside of this place.  The whole complex was built up over 150 years & now over half of it is decaying.

The first picture was shot at the old Captains' Quarters.  Sharon is wearing a latex & mesh halter top with a ponte high waist skirt.  Then we made our way to the very back & shot at what I think were the old electrical buildings.  She is wearing a custom 18" under bust corset made of vintage military drab.

This gorgeous Corner is brought to you by Jessica Darwin, who's working on a new collection as we speak! Though I'm quite happy with the current Jinxed collection, which is still available for custom orders from Jessica. Thanks for sharing these new photos, Jessica!

The Girl Without a Dragon Tattoo

Alexandra Groover 5-hooded hoody + Jessica Darwin mesh top +
Mandula shorts + complexgeometries megahose

I was really just wanting to look like Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo today. However, due to laundry constraints, long hair, only one piercing, and, well, no dragon tattoo, this was not possible. I did still manage to throw together a pretty good outfit though, if I do say so myself. This was all about texture and blackness, which in a way is Lisbeth-like. Right?

Now, onto reading those books...and sleeping. The 4am shift this week is going to defeat me.

Top 19 Finds of the Winter

Usually the first day of Spring would be a day of relief, as our winters are generally two months too long, and rather taxing on the human brain. This past winter, however, has been unbelievably kind to us, especially as it's already been on it's way out for a few weeks. Nonetheless, I will not complain that Spring is officially here today. And though most of you have been with me the past season, here are my Top 19ish Finds of Winter 09/10 (I had a lot of ties for most of the categories). I would recommend getting outside and watching buds appear (as I will be once I've typed this), but once you have to go back inside, you can click happily away on the links below.

In This Corner...Darwinian inspiration

I found a really wonderful personally inspiring photo that I love & want to use as part of the inspiration for my next collection - love everything about it. I am working on new designs right now.

Today's Corner is brought to you by the ever-so-talented Jessica Darwin. Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Jessica coming up here on kOs. And you might even get to see me wearing one of her spectacular neck corsets in the near future, as seen here and in my sidebar on the right. Excited? Well, that makes two of us.

(P.S. No, that is not real alligator.)

(P.P.S. In case you've forgotten about this, "In This Corner..." is a semi-regular segment where a guest designer writes the post or posts a photo and lets us all know a little bit about what goes on upstairs.)

Jessica Darwin

Second up for today is, I admit, basically a rerun of a post on Haute Macabre that was probably the highlight of yesterday for me. These gorgeous pieces are by L.A.-based designer, Jessica Darwin. Her entire collection, entitled 'jinxed', is simply full of awesome. From that backless suspended-bustle gown, to the neck/face corset, to the dripping sheer tank... Also, perhaps because of all the latex gloves that fill my work day, I've never been a fan of latex as clothing. But now methinks Jessica has changed my mind, particularly with that green draped number (she studied draping in Belgium, in case you're wondering where an L.A. girl would've learned how to do that)... The model also nearly convinced me to chop off my hair while at the salon this morning, as my hair used to look that fabulous (honest!). Alas, I'm trying to commit to growing it out. I could perhaps revisit my desire for more tattoos though...

Currently, Jessica only does custom made to order work, but her designs will soon be available as a ready to wear line. Stay tuned!
