I'm very much loving this 'vest' by Sumie Tachibana (remember that glorious outfit of hers?). It may have been inspired by helicopters (see the unpinned styling below), but it makes me think of Tilda Swinton, specifically Tilda Swinton as the White Witch. Which, I know, doesn't make sense, seeing as this piece isn't white, but it has snowed once again, and my brain is suffering for it. Also, I've decided to re-watch LOST from the very beginning, since it's on Netflix and I have the apartment to myself for an extended weekend. Meaning I may or may not have just watched five episodes in a row. Actually, I'd like to recant my former statement. This piece makes me think of Tilda Swinton as the White Witch, if the White Witch was also the Smoke Monster (is that capitalized?). Also, I need more coffee.

Rad Rad
Thanks to Gareth and Sumie, and my reacquaintance with the wonder that is Alexandra Groover, my quest for the perfect jacket has now re-surfaced. And so this Rad Hourani jacket is looking pretty good to me right now...Do any of the above mentioned designers want my mailing address? Anyone?

Le Sigh
Remember my newest dream outfit from Sumie Tachibana? Well, the spats/leg warmers have now sold, but the insanely gorgeous jacket and skirt (below) are now available in her Etsy shop. This truly pains me, as they are both one of a kind items, and thus of course are too small for me. They also have a wee bit of leather. Sigh. I simply can't get over that jacket. Did you notice the double puffed sleeves? Genius.

Sumie Tachibana and my newest dream outfit

Just a word of warning folks: scouring the world of the Internet is not necessarily conducive to your health if you are already feeling ill. Inspired by the gothic theme of my last post, I was instantly drawn to a link on Kingdom of Style for a blog entitled Haute Macabre. And it is deliciously macabre indeed. I've always had a certain penchant for gothic inspired fashion, perhaps because of my love of all things black. But my sickly and sleep-deprived body was not prepared for what I found within the pages of this new favorite blog. For I have discovered an amazing designer by the name of Sumie Tachibana, who is "a rising star in the New York independent fashion design scene." The first photo my eyes fell upon, which comes from Sumie's F/W 09 Modern Nomad collection, may very well extend my insomnia for at least a few more hours, as this is now my new dream outfit (click on photo to enlarge a tad). After further digging, I also discovered that Sumie has an Etsy shop, where she has the OOAK leg warmers/spats from this very photo listed for sale. They do have leather, so I'm not sure what do to about that. Nonetheless, the description informs me that the plaid fabric used for the skirt and the leg warmers are a seersuckered wool plaid. I'm not sure I could imagine a more perfect material. And paired with the most perfect hooded jacket in a gorgeous shade of green velvet? Sigh.
