Library camo

So my man has got his first job at a library. For a while I was considering doing the same Masters degree as him so that I could be a sexy librarian by trade, wearing pencil skirts, cardigans, horn rimmed glasses, and taking the pin out of my hair to shake it out when asked a question. But then I realized that it takes many pins for me to do an up-do, and I'm more a fan of A-line and layered skirts. And I really like my black-framed glasses. So perhaps I'll keep my day job, and just hang out in the library to write my blog. But it might be a good idea to do it in library camo, just in case someone mistakes me for a librarian anyway. Sigh.

Mittens = Happiness

I was beginning to question the saying that "mittens buy you happiness" since, even after I bought myself some wonderful new mittens from Nokomis this morning, it was still turning out to be a fairly unhappy day. (What? You haven't heard that saying? Hmm...) However, later on in the day I received a gorgeous pair of Vivienne Westwood harem-type pants in the mail that fit me ever so perfectly (and were only $39 on eBay!), AND my man found out he got the part-time job he had interviewed for this morning. Both these things reduce my stress ever so much as I now have the perfect pair of 'holiday' pants, and I can justify still buying myself something every once in a while (hello Stacey Grant dress!). Oh yeah, and my man's tuition will be covered. I do wish I could include a picture of these amazing pants, but it seems like every Vivienne Westwood piece I own (total now = 2) does not exist in Google Images, at least not in the colour/fabric I have. Which makes me a tad nervous, but I'm sure they're still authentic. Anywho, if you're stressed, buy some mittens - you just may need to wait a few hours for the happiness to kick in.

Edit: Here are some pictures regarding the VW pants (there you are Stace!). The first is actually of the pants, but I could only find full pictures of very similar looking Worlds End pants. Mine are from the Anglomania collection, are silvery with a black inner buttoned layer, and are made of viscose, wool, and mohair.

These are a few of my favorite things

Things that make a Sunday wonderful, even when my man is away in the mountains:

1) New bed sheets.
2) A grande non-fat extra-hot Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.
3) Wearing my new Liza Rietz half-circle tunic whilst doing laundry.
4) Clean clothes.
5) Finding a deliciously good album (Dead Man's Bones' debut album; photo via here).
6) Finding new wonderful things on Etsy (ArtLab's Distressed Ruff and Malam's Swallowtail Sleeveless Jacket/Overdress).

7) A warm apartment on a cold blustery day.

Tilly-dee-dee

I so love Tilly Bloom's designs (see a previous post about them here). In particular, these two pieces quite succinctly fit my mood today. The first because it is a winter scene, and it's supposed to snow any minute here. And I love dead trees. The second because...it's awesome? And because I feel like my head isn't really attached securely to my shoulders? Okay, so I can't be very succinct myself in how they fit my mood, but trust me, they do.

Oh! And another thing to succinctly fit my mood: the entire Dead Man's Bones album is now streaming on their MySpace. So excited, as it doesn't actually come out until October 6th. And I think it's really really eerie and good. Eek!

Iconic Coat

I absolutely love this picture. And this coat. Calms me down a little after seeing a disappointing video from my once favorite band of all time. Sigh. Anyway, my legs would've been much warmer today if I had tried this 2-leg in 1-stocking method. Something to remember for tomorrow...

Black and grey layers with a chance of army green

It is frightfully cold here, so it's time to start layering much more than summer has allowed me to. If I owned all these pieces, here is what I'd be wearing today. I'm unsure about the shoes though. Besides my heavy duty snow stomping Adidas by Stella McCartney winter boots, I do not own any boots. Some type of vegan boot would definitely be in order here.

Top: The Utterly Intense and Time Consuming Cropped by Isobel and Cleo (click on the picture to see the outrageous detail on this beauty! Oh, and it's 50% off until tomorrow!) - does this picture remind anyone else of this post? Hmm...

Middle: Cobwebs Shawl/Scarf by Las Lopez, double t-shirt dress by Take Off Your Clothes

Bottom: Military Skirt No. 1 and Wool Sleeves by ArtLab, Keep Warm Leggings by Norwegian Wood

George Shaghashvili

You know what you've been missing? A black panel here and there, possibly by George Shaghashvili. I've been wondering how to regulate the temperature of my stomach...

I also love this uber long statuesque dress. Not that I need to look any taller.

New ArtLab/Patricia Ayres photos

I love love love these new ArtLab/Patricia Ayres photos. Breathes more life into the F/W 09/10 pieces. I'm especially re-thinking getting the Coat No. 1. And that skirt/bike short piece is quite intriguing...

Edit (Friday): Patricia Ayres of ArtLab has now opened up her second Etsy shop under her own name. Here you will find her higher end collection pieces, such as the gorgeous poncho and coat pictured above. Click here to have a look around.
