Anuschka Hoevener, S/S 13

Simple and perfect pieces from kOs favorite Anuschka Hoevener. It may prove to be dangerous that some of them are already in Anuschka's online shop. Particularly as the dip-dyed tee is a lightweight cotton/silk blend, the 3/4-length sleeve sweatshirt also comes in black, and the jacket is a linen/cotton blend. And I can't help but label the season's look as a slightly more Euro mydearthing. Sigh.

Anuschka Hoevener, F/W 12/13

I rejoiced too soon about finishing my Horace translations. Because I still have to write an exam on said translations. Thankfully, half of the course was on Catullus, so there will still be a bit o' him on the exam. So, to stay sane for the next week of studying (the final is next Thursday), I've split up my days into mornings/afternoons with Horace, and evenings with Catullus. Obviously, I enjoy my evenings quite a bit. There's something to be said for simplicity, even when that simplicity means being unexpectedly blunt. In other words, my taste in Latin poetry is the same as my taste in clothing. And so, let us return to Anuschka Hoevener, who I haven't featured lately here on kOs (lately meaning over two years ago...my apologies, Anuschka). The simple embroidery and knit work mixed with geometric shapes is just perfect. Better yet, that little black dress is made of sweatshirt material. If only I could wear it when I recite 60 lines of Catullus (yes, in Latin) next week.

Stop telephonin' me

When I'm not dressed in loose drapey layers, this is my look. Well, not 'this' in particular. 'This' is from Anuschka Hoevener's F/W 09/10 collection, and (sadly) not my own. The oversized neck armour, simple black tank, slim cropped black pants, no support socks. Sigh. I'd also love to hang my laundry out to dry in the neighbourhood trees, but I fear for the safety of my assets. Especially because my wardrobe is really my only form of assets.

I also fully endorse these S/S 10 looks by Dora Abodi. If you need justification re: the colours and frills, I can only offer that I've been surrounded by Lady Gaga talk and videos for the greater part of my day indoors. If I can come upon Dora's NJAL page a day or two ago, I probably would've been all gaga over her F/W 10/11 collection, inspired by Mr. Stardust himself.

The Shop à la Amanda Lepore

Mark August 6th on your calendars, folks. It's going to be a whirlwind of excitement over at NJAL's The Shop, as it's 3rd collection of one-off pieces appears. This time the curator is none other than the fabulous Amanda Lepore. Amanda who you ask? Okay, I must admit that I had to Google her. And now I am indeed intrigued. In case you're not in the know either, the omniscient Wikipedia cites Amanda as "an American transsexual icon who has received attention for her modeling, fashion, partying, and business skills. She has been the advertising face for Heatherette, M.A.C. (cosmetics), Mego Jeans, Swatch, CAMP Cosmetics and more." I for one am dying of curiosity to see what her picks are for The Shop. It's sure to be a extreme departure from this month's collection, chosen by the "shaded maiden", Diane Pernet. Really, the only thing I could see Amanda wearing from Diane's picks would be Anuschka Hoevener's Rope Necklace Top (below), which I think is quite spectacular (and still available!). Oh how I hope the next week goes by quickly!
